The

Ramon Guerrero

Memorial

Marching Band

Scholarship

Ramon Guerrero was a father, husband, engineer, musician, videographer, photographer, Metropolitan Youth Orchestra (MYO) Board Member, and ardent Northport Marching Band supporter. All of those can be tied back to the first, because being a dad was his number-one priority.

If there was an opportunity to record his son Marcos' (NHS '20 -- Tuba) musical performance through photography or videography, he focused his talent on that. The bonus for the Northport community was that he also used those talents to showcase all the students who attended musical events alongside his son. He then shared those results via email to parents and in the form of videos posted on YouTube. From Marcos' first recorder concert at Dickinson Avenue Elementary School to every SCMEA All County Concert, from every concert band performance in elementary, middle, and high school to every MYO performance, and, of course, for every Marching Band performance, Ramon was there to digitally capture every Northport student's musical personality.

Sadly, we lost Ramon too soon in November 2018. But through the annual Ramon Guerrero Memorial Scholarship, we feel that his memory will live on by supporting a graduating senior from his beloved Northport Marching Band.
